New Maritime Passenger Terminal in Vela Luka

The construction of the new maritime passenger terminal in Vela Luka, which started in the summer of 2019, was successfully completed at the start of 2024. The Vela Luka County Port Authority led the project in collaboration with the European Union. By relocating the terminal from the center of Vela Luka to a new, modern location outside the town center, the project has significantly improved the connection between the island of KorĨula and the mainland, reduced congestion in the town center, and supported further tourism and economic development of the island.

The previous terminal, designed and built in the 1970s to accommodate smaller ferries, could no longer meet the demands of modern maritime traffic, which has grown significantly in recent years.

The new maritime passenger terminal comprises four modern docks. The largest dock is 150 meters long, while the smaller ones measure 70 and 40 meters. The terminal is equipped with all the modern facilities required in the 21st century.

Relocation of the terminal to a new location outside of the central part of the Vela Luka bay represents a very important step for Marina Korkyra, which is located immediately next to the old terminal location.

In recent years, many clients of our marina have been complaining about waves and noise caused by the Jadrolinija ferry. Terminal relocation has finally eliminated all these negative impacts on our marina. We can now finally offer our clients premium-quality berthing for all boats in the marina, just as they rightfully deserve as part of the Marina 21 family.
