The 45th Rolex Middle Sea Race is one of the most renowned regattas in the world. The race begins on Saturday, October 19, from the Grand Harbour (Port of Valletta) in Malta. From this port, sailors set off around Sicily, passing incredible sights of active volcanoes, through the Strait of Messina, past the islands of Pantelleria and Lampedusa, before returning back to Malta.
The race itself is known for its extreme challenges, with unpredictable sea currents and frequent changes in wind, spanning a total distance of 606 nautical miles.
